Baby, Let’s Get Primal

So my DH is jumping up and down and peeing in his pants tonight because his very own copy of Mark Sisson’s The Primal Blueprint and The Primal Blueprint Cookbook arrived on our front stoop today.  Mark was one of the speakers at IIN’s Mega Conf. in Long Beach last weekend (well, two weekends ago) which I mentioned to you earlier this week. In relaying my IIN experience to my DH,MD,  he became really intrigued by Mark’s lecture and comments.

Personally, Mark really inspired me and I felt completely connected to his life and dietary theories.  I truly believe, like Mark does, that we “all possess a DNA recipe to build a healthy human”, and that by studying the dietary patterns of our ancestors of the past 100K generations, we have much to learn about building our healthy recipes.

This is where my DH jumps up and down and pee’s his pants again..…he LOVES history and is obsessed with Mark’s scientific analysis of our past generations.  The human diet, 100,000 years ago, consisted of animals and plants and no sugars, grains, dairy or legumes….and there was definitely no scheduled eating.  Then, carbs and grains were introduced about 10,000 years ago.  The focus of Mark’s book is that fat is our preferred fuel source (I know I have some of that to get rid of) and that we should become fat-adapted and keto-adapted.  Mark suggests that weight loss is all about insulin – if you eliminate the sugar and grains (yes, even the whole grains), and you will lose the extra body fat that you (and I) desire. Mark (and my DH) also believe we will improve our energy levels, reduce internal inflammation, and reduce our risk for bad diseases.

So, I just handed my DH his two new books….to read by tomorrow so I can get the full report.  If you are reading this and thinking, “YES! That sounds like me!” well, that’s wonderful,  I can help you to implement Mark’s philosophies into your lifestyle. If you are reading this and thinking, “WHAT?!?!? That’s a bunch of crap!”  Well, then stay tuned….more updates to come regarding thee other speakers and their dietary theories.
