R & R is Required

My hubby and I are back in town from a week long adventure out West.  It was a much welcomed break from our daily routine at home with our boys.  Thankfully, we had Grandma and Grandpa to help us out while we headed out West to recharge.  Our vacation was spent at the Stage Coach Trails Guest Ranch in Yucca, Arizona.  Have never been to a “hotel” where we had to drive 15 miles on dirt “trails” to get there.  That alone was quite an adventure!  Probably should have gone for the 4 wheel drive upgrade on the rental car.  Thankfully, we did not leave any parts or pieces of our vehicle out on the trails.

Stage Coach Trails Guest Ranch is owned by the Rynders Family who happen to be from Wisconsin.  It was their dream to move out west and to create a family friendly ranch facility that would appeal to able body and handicapped horse riders.  The Rynders family is truly an inspiration and testament to being persistent and following one’s dreams.  Their story is very heartfelt and moving. You learn the entire Rynders story when you visit their ranch.

We spent our days lounging around the pool and hot tub, reading, relaxing, riding horses, eating, lounging, relaxing, snacking, riding horses, relaxing, relaxing, relaxing, meeting new friends (from Scotland and Toronto), having a few cocktails, and playing games like horseshoes and cards.  Did I mention we spent a lot of time relaxing and riding horses?!  We did two rides/day and each was about 1-1.5 hours.  You may choose what “level” ride you would like – walking, trotting, loping – depending on your comfort and ability.

The scenery was amazing!  Nothing but mountains, desert trails, rolling hills, canyons, sandy washes, and desert plants for many, many miles.  We enjoyed three home cooked meals each day and did not have to do any dishes!  The warm, knowledgeable, and friendly staff truly made for an outstanding ranch experience.  We have never done this much relaxing on a vacation in our lives; but we were at a point in life where we truly needed this.  So rejuvenating.

We plan to venture back with our boys when they are a year or two older.  Thanks  to the Rynders for a most memorable and enjoyable bit of R&R.  Everyone should be required to experience a vacation like this at least once in their lifetime.  You will feel so recharged and ready to take on the world!
